Kim Garr, the owner and creator of C'est La V Bakeshop, always loved to bake, but when she began to learn about the benefits of a vegan diet (for her health, for the animals, and for the environment), she quickly adapted her baking style and started making all of her treats without any animal products. To her surprise, they were just as good as "traditional" treats made with dairy and eggs, and having been totally won over, she never looked back.

 

For three years, Kim worked as a professional baker at Leda's Bakeshop in Los Angeles, before it closed its doors in late 2008. During her time there, she was able to convince the owner that vegan baked goods don't all taste like cardboard and was allowed start a vegan line of pastries at the shop. By the time Leda's closed, Kim knew that vegan baking was the path she needed to pursue, and C'est La V Bakeshop was born!
